An English Teacher Can Transform the Future
I’m on the road as I write today but there’s no escaping the heat. I hope you’re staying cool, hydrated and healthy!
I received an email yesterday, though, from the Matri Sahayog Basic School in Chitwan, Nepal. We’ve helped them over the past few years with funding for an English teacher.
You might think that isn’t a big deal, but when you’re a poor school supporting an even poorer community, it is a very big deal.
One donor who has kindly given every year to support a good part of this cost has other commitments this year. That happens. It is hard, though, to tell the Head Master of the school, whose letter to us is below, that this year the kids will have to do without an English teacher. It would be like slamming closed yet another door that offers a path to a more promising future. I just don’t have the heart to do that.
So now we’re scrambling to find another $2000 — that’s all it would take to fund the teacher for a year. And once again I’m turning to all the kind and compassionate friends of Engage Nepalhoping that perhaps a few of you will agree that these kids deserve every chance we can give them.
Please stay cool, stay well, and please — Engage Nepal.
