FEED THE MIND AND NOURISH THE SOUL FOR THE SCH KIDS

Engage Nepal, with the support of so many kind donors, has been the US-based partner of the Sagarmatha Children's Home (SCH) in Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley. Many of you have seen our fund-raising page for SCH where we seek sponsorship for children who have been orphaned, abandoned or whose families are unable to offer care. There's a link here for those who want to know more. 

And over the years, the children at SCH have thrived and grown and some are starting to approach the point where education for their future becomes even more critical. No longer children, they face the need for more advanced and specialized education.  

Two of our kids were straight-A students. But who will pay for studies in commerce for a prospective banker or the IT course for a would-be computer engineer or graphics arts training or nursing or medicine or any of the other advanced studies these kids will need to cross the educational finish line. 

And it's not just Anita, for example, who wants to be a banker and will begin her studies this year. It's all the children who will follow behind. So we are launching an Education Fund -- separate and distinct from the sponsorships we seek -- that will be dedicated only to advanced education and/or unique educational challenges for the children requiring special funding. 

The fund will be maintained by Engage Nepal in a segregated account to ensure that it is used exclusively for education and we will work with the SCH leadership to determine disbursements. 

Our goal is to raise at least $3000 annually to keep this fund robust and viable and to ensure that no child at SCH -- present or future -- is denied the opportunity to be all that they can be.
